Our showers are held quarterly within Southern California. Expectant Active Duty/Active Reserves mom and spouses E1-E7 qualify for our program. Many of our moms have a spouse that will be deployed the majority of their pregnancy and will not be home for the arrival of their new baby. We are honoring these families for their many sacrifices in a very unique way by assisting them with various items needed for the arrival and care of their newborns. Several of our families are also far from home and friends that can help them with these items. We simply take care of our service members and their families while they are taking care of us.
We have in the past supported up to 50 moms at our showers. We welcome outside organizations interested in participated and honoring our military and their families in this very special way to contact us and find out how they can help.
Our moms are showered with gifts from diapers and wipes to cribs and car seats. At each shower a minimum of $100 worth of baby related items are given to each family.
We have a shower every winter, spring, summer, and fall with a 5th shower every year located aboard Maine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twenty-nine Palms. Please see our Annual Baby Showers Page for more information and our application.
In 2009 Operation Showers of Appreciation began a new program called Unit Assisted Showers. With this program, we offer to assist various commands in donating baby necessities for 5-15 expecting families. In addition to the donations, we will assist the Family Readiness Officer or Ombudsman with preparations for their upcoming Unit Shower. Please view our Unit Assisted Shower page for more information and how you can register for assistance for families within your command.
